Demo Websites

Here are a selection of demo web designs which you may or may not like. If you can, try to imagine the dummy photos on display replaced by the pictures you would want. If you can do that, you will find a lot more of the sites shown could work for you. For example, we used a demo site with photos of insects and turned it into a site selling industrial pumping equipment!

Though your website design should reinforce the values and 'personality' of your business so that the site 'fits' your style of doing business, you may also want to establish that new customers should feel confident you can 'deliver on the promise'.

So, ask yourself: "What sort of colours and shapes do the customers I am trying to attract go for? Bold or subtle? Rounded or sharp?"

Also, look at the 'structure' of the page design by paying attention to:

  • The menu - horizontal or vertical?
  • The position, size and colour of the text
  • The amount of text visible
  • The size and position of the photos (Remember, NOT what those photos contain!)
  • The background - is it too busy or too plain?

Ideally, there will be one which 'jumps out' at you. Maybe you may like elements from one and other elements from the other. You'll find that choosing a website design has as much to do with learning about yourself as about the design.

There may be none you really like, but it would be helpful for you to discover why you don't like any of them. If that is the case, have a look around the web and indeed, the other websites we have done (see the homepage at www.krann.co.uk for a collection of website examples) and tell us which one comes closest to what you are looking for.

Also, don't forget we are designing it principally for YOUR CUSTOMERS, as they are the people who matter most for any business.

A word of warning - whatever you do, don't design your site 'by committee'!

Committees would turn down anything that smacks of being different. Put it this way, how many committees do you know would approve campaigns such as 'Compare the Meerkat' (which increased enquiries by 80%) or '118 118' (created by WCRS - MarketingWeek's agency of the Year 2008) ?

Those two award-winning campaigns have been incredibly successful, but we think there's hardly a committee in the land which would give them the thumbs up to start filming them.

Don't be afraid of being bold in your efforts to entice your customer to buy.

Don't ask the question: 'But what does a man sliding down a giant urban water slide have to do with a credit card?'

Ask yourself: "Why am I being so negative about these creative ideas?'

Finally, remember that Web Designs are NOT written is stone! We have hundreds more designs not shown here and we can design specifically for you from scratch - we just need to know more about how your business interacts with your customers at the moment and what type of customers you are trying to attract in future.
