Note: For security reasons, it is suggested that you do not enter your password at this time.
9 .Select the "Do not download my e-mail and folders at this time checkbox" and click "Finish" button.
Note: If you do not select the "Do not download checkbox at this time", Windows Mail will attempt to download your email and you will receive error messages. The next steps documented below actually complete the set-up required to successfully download email and folders.
10. The new account you just created now appears in the Internet Accounts list.
11. To configure your outgoing mail, make sure you have selected your new account from the Internet Accounts list and click the "Properties" button.
Result: The Properties dialog box displays the information you just configured on the General tab.
12. Ensure that the "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing" check box is selected.
13. Click the "Servers" tab, and ensure that the "My server requires authentication" checkbox is ticked. Then click the "Settings" button.
14. Select the "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" radio button. Then click "OK" button.
15. Back on the Properties dialog box, click on the "Advanced" tab, and select all default value for outgoing and incoming mailserver.
Note: In the unlikely event that port 25 should fail (which you would discover after you have completed this procedure and try to send email), we recommend that you try port 587. Some users have been successful in sending authenticated outgoing email at 1&1 via port 587 in lieu of 25.
16. Click "OK" button. Then click "Close" button on the Internet Accounts dialog box. Windows Mail will ask if you would like to download folders from the mail server you just added. Click "Yes" button.
17. Enter your username and password to logon to the server when requested, and then click "OK" button.
Note: You will see a dialog box displaying that your folders are downloading.
