Passwords - easy for you, difficult for them

Microsoft Password Checker

Is your password any good?

A quick way to find out is by visiting Microsoft's password checker page at http://www.microsoft.com/protect/yourself/password/checker.mspx.

You may be surprised how bad your password is.

If you simply LOVE your password because you can remember it but now you are worried because it scores poorly on Microsoft's test, why not come up with a memorable variation?

Here's a way. What are the lyrics to your favourite tune? Use the first or last letter of each word in the first (or second) line and bung it on at the end.

Better still, put your add-on lyrics in brackets.

So, if your password is 'password' (how secure is that one?) and your favourite tune is Frank Sinatra singing 'New York, New York' your password becomes

it will become 'password(sstnilt)' - still easy for you to remember, but now scoring 'Medium' on the password testing machine instead of 'Easy'.

If this works for you, why not 'Start Spreading The News...' by emailing this article to your friends?!
