He graduated with a degree in Pure & Applied Physics at UMIST, Manchester, UK where he also served as newspaper editor and students' union president.

He worked as a Journalist and Production Manager at the South Manchester Reporter newspaper then worked in Marketing Consultancy and Print Production and Design Management while gaining a Professional Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in 2001.

In 2004, John started Krann Ltd, with an aim to serve customers requiring web design & development, journalism, copywriting and marketing services.

John is a qualified PADI Open Water Diver and has dived in the Arabian Gulf (warm) and the English Lake District (less warm).
